Addressing Substance Abuse in Nagaland

Zhimomi highlighted the critical need for collective action to combat substance abuse, which affects every corner of Nagaland. According to a 2021 survey by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, there are 624,000 substance users in Nagaland, including 111,000 children and 26,000 females. This alarming trend underscores the urgency of preventive measures.

Government Initiatives and Stakeholder Involvement

The Department of Social Welfare has been proactive in implementing various programmes aimed at reducing substance abuse. These initiatives are part of the state’s broader “War on Drugs” campaign.
