Nagaland has embarked on a 100-day special awareness campaign under Mission Shakti to empower women and raise awareness about women-centric schemes. The campaign, which runs from 21 June to 4 October, was discussed in a recent meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Dr. J. Alam, IAS, at the New Secretariat in Kohima.
The meeting, attended by Additional Heads of Departments (AHODs) and representatives from various converging departments, focused on the implementation and objectives of the campaign. Secretary of Social Welfare, Martha R. Ritse, IAS, provided an overview of the campaign, which operates under the SANKALP–Hub for Empowerment of Women (HEW) initiative.

This initiative, launched by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, aims to ensure that women across the country are aware of government initiatives and can access available resources and support.
The campaign is being carried out in all 16 districts of Nagaland under the banners of SANKALP-HEW and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP). The Chief Secretary emphasised the importance of effectively implementing the campaign on the ground to maximise its impact.
Presentations during the meeting highlighted the current status of the Mission Shakti Scheme’s implementation in the state and reviewed the Annual State Action Plan for Mission Shakti for the Financial Year 2024-25, which was subsequently approved.

A key aspect of the meeting was the joint deliberation to strengthen the convergent action plan for implementing various Mission Shakti Schemes. These schemes include SANKALP-HEW, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Sakhi-One Stop Centre, 181-Women Helpline, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Palna, Sakhi Niwas, and Shakti Sadan. The collaborative efforts aim to create a robust framework for the effective execution of these schemes, ensuring that the benefits reach the intended beneficiaries.
