The installation of town councils for Zunheboto, Satakha, Aghunato, and Atoizu took place on 12 July 2024, in Zunheboto. This event marked a significant step in local governance for the Zunheboto district.
The programme was attended by key figures such as K.T. Sukhalu, Advisor for Food & Civil Supplies and Legal Metrology; G. Ikuto Zhimomi, Advisor for Land Resources; and MLA Er. Picto Shohe, along with the district administration and other stakeholders.
Er. Picto Shohe, newly assigned Chairman of the Zunheboto District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), expressed his gratitude for the peaceful conduct of the Town Council elections. He congratulated the winning candidates and encouraged them to work together for the district’s development. Shohe also appealed to the unsuccessful candidates and their supporters to contribute positively to the community’s welfare.

K.T. Sukhalu emphasised the responsibilities that come with the councillors’ new roles. He highlighted the importance of sincere problem-solving and proper planning to ensure effective execution of developmental plans. Sukhalu reminded the councillors that the onus of progress now lies with them.
G. Ikuto Zhimomi highlighted the State Government’s efforts in making the Urban Local Body (ULB) elections in Nagaland a reality. He called upon the elected members to serve the people with dedication and integrity.
On the same day, a felicitation event for the newly elected members of the Atoizu Town Council was held at the Atoizu Jubilee Hall. MLA Er. Picto Shohe attended as the Special Guest and spoke about the emergence and future aspirations of the Atoizu Town Council. He encouraged the new councillors to pursue a vision of development, peace, and unity.
The newly elected Chairperson of the Atoizu Town Council, Kitoli Naje, shared her plans and visions for the council, calling for collective efforts from all stakeholders to achieve their goals. ADC & Administrator of Atoizu Town Council, Nukutulu S. Venuh, provided insights into the region’s administrative efforts, emphasising the importance of cohesive governance.
The event, chaired by President NCP Shiwoto Aye, also featured a dedicatory prayer by Rev. Vikuto, Pastor of Atoizu Town Baptist Church, adding a spiritual dimension to the proceedings.
