Capital Shutters, Kohima, has announced the inaugural All Nagaland Badminton Doubles League 2024, set to take place at the Indoor Badminton Stadium in Kohima. This event, organised under the Nagaland Badminton Association (NBA), promises to be a significant milestone for badminton enthusiasts in the region.
The league will feature a variety of categories, including:

- Women’s Doubles
- Senior Mixed Doubles
- Junior Boys’ Doubles
- Junior Girls’ Doubles

This diverse range of categories ensures that players of all ages and skill levels have the opportunity to participate and showcase their talents.

Registration for the league is open until June 10, 2024, with a fee of Rs 5000. Matches will be held on Fridays and Saturdays, starting shortly after the registration period ends. Joseph Sumi, one of the organisers and coaches, emphasised that the league is designed to be completed before mid-August, ahead of the inter-district badminton tournament. This scheduling aims to encourage rigorous activity and preparation among players, ensuring they are well-prepared for the upcoming competition.
While the exact prize amounts for the winners have not been disclosed, the organisers have confirmed that prize money will be awarded. Further details regarding the start date of the league will be announced soon, and participants are encouraged to register promptly to secure their spots.
In addition to the league, Capital Shutters, Kohima, in collaboration with the Nagaland Badminton Association and Kohima District Badminton Association, is organising SMASH, an all-Nagaland summer badminton coaching camp. The camp, themed “Nurture Them Young,” will run from June 20 to July 20 at the Indoor Badminton Stadium, Kohima.

The coaching camp will be led by Assistant Commandant of Nagaland Police, Joseph Sumi, NPS, a highly decorated player and BWF Level-1 certified coach. Sumi’s impressive record includes 15 Men’s State Singles Championships, 12 Men’s North East Singles Championships, and 20 State Doubles Championships. His expertise and experience promise to provide invaluable training to participants.
