The Kohima Superintendent of Police has issued an order declaring the Assembly Secretariat Complex and its surrounding areas as a “Temporary Red Zone” from August 26 to 28. This decision comes ahead of the 5th Session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly, 2024.
The order was necessitated due to the urgent need to temporarily prohibit unmanned aircraft system flights. According to Section 24(2) of the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s Drone Rules 2021, the Superintendent has declared these areas within a one-kilometer radius as a “Temporary Red Zone” effective from 17:00 hours on August 26 to 17:00 hours on August 28.

Additionally, another order has designated these areas within the same aerial distance as a “No Drone Zone” during the same period. This designation is based on provisions under Rule 49 of the Drone Rules 2021, which states that violating rules like Rule 22 and Rule 27 are cognizable and non-compoundable offenses.
With this declaration, residents and visitors are advised to be aware of these restrictions to avoid any legal consequences. The authorities are working diligently to ensure that all necessary measures are in place for a smooth and secure legislative session.
