The Rising People’s Party (RPP) has criticized the Nagaland Government for its focus on the proposed Chiethu airport and Nagaki city, while neglecting the roads, airport, and railway station in Dimapur. The RPP pointed out that Dimapur’s roads are now “utterly unpliable” and that poor drainage is likely to lead to a Dengue epidemic. The Urban Development Department (UDD) is accused of prioritizing Nagaki City over road maintenance.
The RPP also criticized the government’s pursuit of the Chiethu airport project despite it being deemed “NOT feasible” by the Ministry of Civil Aviation. The party has urged the government to table a White Paper on the encroached airport and railway station in the upcoming NLA session. The RPP alleges that politicians controlling resources are the “biggest criminal syndicate” in the state.
