The Department of Social Welfare in Longleng has kicked off a month-long celebration of Poshan Maah 2024, themed “Ek Ped Maa Ke Nam,” at the CDPO office premises. This initiative aims to highlight the importance of nutrition and environmental protection.
Deputy Commissioner W. Manpai Phom, NCS, who attended the event as the Special Guest, emphasised the need for Anganwadi workers to work with transparency and accountability. He stressed that their efforts are crucial for the upliftment of the district. Phom highlighted the vital role mothers play in shaping society and the importance of nutritional value for both mothers and children. He noted that proper nutrition is essential for a child’s education and overall development.
Phom also discussed the importance of protecting “mother earth,” which goes beyond just planting trees. He encouraged the community to reduce activities like hunting and fishing, emphasising the need for mass participation in these efforts. The DC led the Poshan Pledge, further solidifying the community’s commitment to these causes.
