The Naga Students’ Federation organised ‘The Naga Morung’ to mark the 78th Naga Independence Day on 14th August 2024 at the NBCC Convention Centre, Kohima. Neingulo Krome, General Secretary of Naga People’s Movement for Human Rights, delivered a speech titled ‘Naga’s Yesterday – The Odyssey’. The speech traced the Naga journey from British invasion in 1832 to the present day, highlighting resistance, British rule, and subsequent Indian military occupation. It also discussed various agreements and ceasefires, including the 2015 Framework Agreement, and the ongoing political negotiations. The speech concluded by questioning whether the Nagas are back to square one and what lies ahead for their struggle for independence.
