The Nagaland State Human Rights Commission (NSHRC) organized an awareness programme on ‘Human Rights and the Role of State Human Rights Commissions in its Better Protection’ in collaboration with the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) and Kohima College. The event, held on August 17, featured a keynote address by NSHRC Chairman Justice Songkhupchung Serto, who discussed fundamental rights and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Member R Nzanbemo Lotha highlighted the importance of the state’s human rights commission, established in 2023. Panel lawyers Nagali Shohe and Sunjib Rana spoke on the Protection of Human Rights Act 1993 and drug trafficking, respectively. Over 500 students attended the programme.
