The Nagaland Government has issued a stern warning to the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) to clear the landslide debris at Sechü-Zubza on National Highway 29 within 72 hours. This critical road is the lifeline connecting Kohima, the state capital, and several other districts.
In a letter to the Executive Director (P), NHIDCL, RO-Kohima, the Commissioner & Secretary, Nagaland, expressed deep disappointment over the failure of NHIDCL and its contractors to clear the debris despite significant support from state machinery and villagers. The state government has now given NHIDCL a tight deadline to restore traffic flow on this vital highway.
If NHIDCL fails to meet this deadline, the state government has vowed to employ necessary machinery and manpower to reopen the road. The bills for any incurred expenses will then be submitted to NHIDCL for payment.
