Member of Parliament (MP) S. Supongmeren Jamir recently visited the landslide site under Dzüdza village in Kohima district, which has been causing significant disruptions on National Highway 29. The visit was part of his efforts to address the concerns of local residents and ensure that necessary repairs are expedited.
During his visit, Jamir was accompanied by key officials including the Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Joint Secretary (Road & Bridges) Government of Nagaland, Executive Engineer (NH), Kohima, the Additional Superintendent of Police, Kohima, and NHIDCL officials. This multi-stakeholder approach underscores the importance of collaboration in resolving such critical issues.
The Communications Department of NPCC reported that during the visit, Jamir met with the Dzüdza Village Council. Council members shared their concerns and outlined their efforts to manage the situation at the local level. This interaction highlights the community’s proactive role in addressing the aftermath of the landslide.

Jamir also met with leaders from the Western Angami People’s Organisation. He welcomed their opinions and inputs, appreciating their ongoing efforts in addressing the challenges posed by the landslide. The MP assured the villagers and local organisations that he would pressurize higher authorities to expedite necessary repairs and ensure that the road is restored urgently.
Contractors entrusted with the construction and maintenance of the affected stretch of road assured Jamir of all necessary interventions to ensure prompt repair and restoration of the affected area. This commitment underscores their dedication to resolving this critical issue swiftly.
Expressing concern over the disruption caused by the landslide, Jamir underscored the need for swift action to restore normalcy and ensure safety for residents and commuters who rely on this critical roadway. His visit serves as a testament to his commitment to addressing local concerns effectively.

In another development, a Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC) team led by Working President Keviphreo K Kuotsu visited stranded vehicles at the Dzüdza landslide site. The team provided refreshments to travellers caught in this unfortunate situation, offering words of encouragement and assuring them of continued support.
