On 23rd August 2024, MGM College in Dimapur hosted a mock drill focusing on fire and emergency preparedness. The event, organised by the college’s Disaster Management Committee in partnership with the Dimapur Fire Station West, Nagaland Fire and Emergency Service, Government of Nagaland, aimed to educate students on crucial safety measures.
Sir M. Martin, 2nd Officer-in-Charge, led the programme alongside five colleagues from the fire service. Fr. Giju George, Administrator of MGM College, opened the event with a welcome address. Following this, Sir Martin delivered a concise awareness session on fire safety and hazards.
The fire service team then conducted a comprehensive demonstration, illustrating the correct usage of various fire extinguishers. They also performed a simulated rescue operation, providing students with practical insights into emergency procedures.
This hands-on approach was designed to bolster students’ knowledge and readiness for potential fire-related emergencies. The mock drill offered valuable experience in handling fire safety equipment and understanding proper evacuation techniques.
