On July 13, at approximately 8:30 am, a truck carrying construction materials veered off National Highway 202 near Kohima Road, about 8 kilometres from Kiphire Headquarters. The vehicle rolled down a steep embankment, leaving the driver injured while the handyman managed to escape unscathed.
According to the Officer in Charge of Kiphire Police Station, the truck was en route from Dimapur to Kiphire when the accident occurred. The driver remained inside the vehicle as it plummeted approximately 450 feet from the highway, sustaining injuries in the process. The handyman, however, quickly jumped to safety, avoiding any harm.

Prompt action by Good Samaritans at the scene ensured the injured driver was swiftly transported to the District Hospital in Kiphire for medical attention. The Chief Medical Officer at the hospital reported that the driver suffered blunt injuries and trauma as a result of the accident and is currently undergoing treatment.
The truck, which was transporting a load of sand, cement, and grocery items, sustained significant damage as it rolled down on the driver’s side of the road. Initial investigations suggest that a combination of mechanical failure and hazardous road conditions may have contributed to the accident.
