The Union Minister for Jal Shakti, C.R. Paatil, launched Version 2.0 of the ‘FloodWatch India’ mobile application on 13th August 2024. Developed by the Central Water Commission, the app provides real-time flood forecasts and information on 592 flood monitoring stations, including storage positions of 150 major reservoirs. It utilises advanced technologies like satellite data analysis and mathematical modelling. The app is available in English and Hindi, both in readable and audio formats, and can be downloaded on Android and iOS devices. This update aims to enhance the public’s understanding of flood conditions across India.
