The dedication ceremony for the Wokha Town Council took place on 23 August at the VDB Conference Hall. This ceremony marked the official start of the Council’s duties on August 27, 2024. Pastor Rev. Abemo Jungio of the Wokha Town Baptist Church led the dedication prayer, setting a spiritual tone for the new council.
In his address, ADC Renbomo Ezung praised the councillors for beginning their tenure with spiritual guidance. He highlighted the importance of serving the community with love and making decisions that benefit societal well-being. Ezung cautioned against poor decision-making and emphasized the need for development-oriented choices that avoid selfish motives. He encouraged collective decision-making, stressing the value of team opinions and community input. Ezung also urged the councillors to remain resilient and committed to progress despite potential challenges.
Chairperson Khozamo Lotha noted that while the official appointment of the Council is pending, the team’s duties will commence next Tuesday. He affirmed the Council’s commitment to working with dedication and integrity, urging all members to adhere to the rules and perform their roles honestly.
Deputy Chairperson Nzano P. Kikon echoed that the Council’s official responsibilities will begin next week. She reassured the community of the 15-member team’s readiness to work diligently and called on citizens to contribute to the town’s improvement.

The program, chaired by HA, WTC, Zubenthung Jungio, included an invocation by Deacon Nrikhon, a welcome address by UDA, WTC, Tsenyani Lotha, and a vote of thanks by Councilor Myingthungo Kikon. The ceremony aimed to foster a sense of unity among community members and council members alike.
