The Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN) has supported a demand for age relaxation in government services, citing it as beneficial for all aspirants. A group of ten aspirants, affected by COVID-19 and nearing or having reached the age limit, petitioned the Chief Minister on 22 July 2024 to raise the eligibility age from 35 to 37 years for state competitive exams. CTAN acknowledged this genuine demand, noting that the COVID-19 pandemic had equally affected all aspirants.
They also criticized an existing order from the P&AR Department, stating it unfairly benefits candidates over 35 years while neglecting those nearing or below the limit. CTAN urged extending this order for another five years to support unemployed youth in Nagaland. The ‘concerned aspirants group’ highlighted various states’ age relaxations for government services, including Maharashtra, Sikkim, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Manipur.
