Nagaland is bracing for a period of cloudy heavy rainfall, which is expected to affect almost all districts until 29th August 2024. The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has issued a warning, cautioning that these showers may be accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning at isolated places.
The NSDMA has specifically highlighted that heavy rainfall is anticipated in the districts of Chumoukedima, Kohima, Longleng, Mokokchung, Mon, Niuland, Peren, and Wokha. Other districts are likely to experience cloudy moderate rain.
Residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions against lightning strikes and gale winds that could disrupt communication and connectivity. The authority has also urged key line departments responsible for maintaining public infrastructure to remain vigilant due to the risk of landslides caused by higher volumes of precipitation.

Nagaland’s lowland and foothill regions, including Dimapur, Nuiland, Chumukedima, Bhandari, Pangti, Tizit, and Tuli, are particularly vulnerable to water logging and flash floods due to the potential for high precipitation in the hill sector.
The NSDMA has requested all District Disaster Management Authorities and other line departments to be on alert to save lives and properties during this monsoon period. By taking these precautions, residents can ensure their safety amidst the unpredictable weather conditions.
