Twelve young footballers from Nagaland have carved a path towards their dreams, securing spots in the Bundesliga U-13 trials in Mumbai. This event, a collaborative effort by Dimapur Sporting Club (DSC), Big Hit, and Bundesliga International, took place over two days, starting 6 April 2024, at the Astro Turf Football Ground in Chumoukedima’s Police Complex. It aimed to scout and develop young talent in the Under-13 and Under-15 categories through the Bundesliga Dream initiative.
The trials saw a flurry of activity, with numerous hopefuls vying for a chance to showcase their skills. After a rigorous selection process involving three rounds of play-offs and under the watchful eyes of five seasoned coaches, twelve standout players from Nagaland emerged victorious.
The selected talents – Nitova Swu, Yonglong Konyak, Erang Sibe Zelui, Asa Ayemi, Seisanglun Kilong, Sehzinlal Thangzeo, Lalminkai Thompson, Bendangchen Longkumer, Nitoka Tamang, Nipuka Awomi, Kaiminlen, and Sehboigin – are now set to represent their state at the national trials in Mumbai on 13 and 14 April.
The coaches were notably impressed by the natural ability and potential of these young athletes, pointing out the necessity for further refinement in their technical skills, including out draw, corner kick, and free kick strategies. This feedback underscores the importance of continuous development and training for these young talents to reach their peak performance levels.
