Konyak Students’ Union objects to transfer of lone EVS Assistant Professor

The Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) has strongly objected to the recent transfer of the lone Environmental Science (EVS) Assistant Professor from Wangkhao Government College, Mon. The union claims that this move will severely compromise the academic structure of the college.

“This decision is both ill-conceived and highly detrimental, considering the already existing challenges faced by the college,” stated the KSU in its press release. The union highlighted that Wangkhao Government College currently has 666 students and is already struggling with a shortage of faculty members. Additionally, some fresh assistant professors were transferred without completing their probation period of two years without relievers, further exacerbating the situation.

The college has also not yet seen the appointment of a principal since the retirement of the former principal two months ago. This lack of leadership has added to the difficulties faced by both students and faculty.

The Union’s President Temwang and General Secretary A Pangnan urgently called on the concerned department to immediately revoke the transfer order of the EVS Assistant Professor and to post sufficient assistant professors to ensure the smooth functioning of classes. Failure to address this issue promptly will compel the Union to take further action in the best interests of the students and the community at large, they added.
