Chittorgarh District Police have demonstrated exceptional investigative skills by solving a complex murder case in just 24 hours. The case, initially thought to be an accident, led to the arrest of three individuals, including the victim’s wife, her lover, and an accomplice.
Discovery on the Highway
On 5 September 2024, the body of Chhaganlal Banjara was found on the Mangalwad-Nimbahera State Highway. Mangalwad police, led by Police Station Officer Ram Singh, were alerted to the unidentified corpse. The investigation gained momentum when the victim’s father, Goru Banjara, filed a report expressing suspicions about his daughter-in-law, Reena Banjara, and her associates.

A Plot Driven by Illicit Love
As the investigation unfolded, a chilling narrative came to light. Reena Banjara, frustrated by the obstacles in meeting her lover, Dinesh Banjara, devised a plan to murder her husband, Chhaganlal. On the night of the crime, an accomplice, Badrilal Banjara, invited Chhaganlal to a secluded spot near the highway under the pretence of sharing drinks. In a betrayal that defies belief, Dinesh and Badrilal intoxicated Chhaganlal before strangling him with a towel.
Attempt to Deceive
In an effort to cover their tracks, the perpetrators dumped Chhaganlal’s body on the highway, hoping it would be mistaken for an accident. However, their ruse was quickly uncovered by the diligent police force. Superintendent of Police Sudhir Joshi praised the investigative team’s meticulous work and their ability to untangle the web of deceit spun by the suspects.
